Our Club

Founded in 1927, The Strangers Club is a Private Members’ Club nestled in historic architecture on Elm Hill, Norwich. The Club was formed to bring the many “strangers” together. Now, as then, Members invite guests and friends along to our exclusive setting.

Being a friendly and inviting Club, any member at the bar buys a drink for the next member to arrive. 

Over the years, the Club has entertained many notable people including Queen Mary, Princess Alexandra, the Lord Mayor of London, the Ambassadors of the Netherlands, Belgium and Mexico, Lord Birkenhead, Lord Baden-Powell, Sir Henry Wood, Sir Alfred Munnings as well as many other writers, actors and politicians. 

The Strangers’ Club is centrally located in a beautiful "Grade 2" listed building, on Elm Hill, moments from the River Wensum right in the heart of Norwich City.

With its excellent catering team, members can look forward to a variety of high class food and drink. There is focus on quality local produce. The menu changes weekly in line with the season. Food is paired with a wide selection of wines, ale, beer and spirits.

For those Members and Guests visiting the Strangers' Club, private parking is available. Annual parking spaces at the rear of the Club are available for those members working in the City. Contact the Club Steward for details, availability and prices.
